Introducing

StreetSquash offers a comprehensive youth development program that integrates academic support, squash training, community service, college readiness, leadership development, and mentoring for individuals aged 11-24. Initially starting as an after-school initiative with 24 middle school students and 2 staff members, StreetSquash has since grown to support 400 participants, from 6th grade through to college graduation and workforce entry.

The mission of this nonprofit organization is to help students unlock their full academic, athletic, and personal potential by offering a wide range of enriching experiences and maintaining the highest standards.

Challenge: Come up with a smooth volunteer recruitment process

The nonprofit organization, which recruits 50 new volunteers each summer, needed to devise a simple recruitment process. This would avoid unnecessarily complicating the application process for the volunteers while not overwhelming the staff team.

Replace individual requests with automatic upload space

StreetSquash had to request resumes and medical forms from each volunteer by individual emails and manually upload each document into a Google Drive.

The process was functional, but the possibility of losing a document was high, so a solution had to be found that would speed up the process and, most importantly, give him confidence that all the necessary documents would be automatically placed in a shared folder on the online repository.

“For us, having every volunteer send individual emails with these documents would get overwhelming and it would be easy for items to get lost.”

Solution: Efficient file upload system by DriveUploader

Smoothly recruiting volunteers was an important process for StreetSquash, so they began looking for a partner that would eliminate existing problems while being easy to set up without advanced technology knowledge. The features mentioned below proved to be key.

Online file uploader with branding

Creating an online uploader through DriveUploader allows StreetSquash to customize the entire upload page, including formatted page descriptions, brand colors, and the use of their own logo. This created a unique URL with its branding without any expertise.

Intuitive documents uploading

When collecting the documents from volunteers, it was necessary to create a clearly recognisable environment so that applicants could be sure they were using the correct website and not uploading their details to another section or service.

Keep collected data organized automatically

The files have been successfully uploaded, but that's not the end of it. Automatic saving to a pre-selected destination on Drive and custom notifications for each uploaded file are the cornerstones of the entire process. It is at this step that communication and complex file forwarding and re-uploading between volunteers and team members are eliminated. This is where the greatest value is created for the StreetSquash team.

“Creating the uploader was not complicated at all. I was able to set everything up in a matter of minutes.”

Results: Increased Confidence and Streamlined Document Management

While using DriveUploader did not significantly reduce time, it provided StreetSquash with confidence in the delivery and organization of important documents, which was the most critical aspect.

Today, DriveUploader is a part of every volunteer recruitment process at StreetSquash, and we are grateful to contribute to their valuable work.

“We don't need to worry about remembering if we uploaded someone's health form or not to the drive. We already know it's there.”
